To streamline the process, we recommend gathering all the necessary information beforehand. Here's what you will need: contact details, details of your educational background, Proof of Project Management Experience, and Certificates of Project Management Education.
The Project Management Institute (PMI) takes a thorough approach to ensuring the credibility of its certifications. Here's what you can expect after submitting your application: PMI will verify that you meet all eligibility requirements as outlined in the certification handbook. Generally, this takes 5-10 business days.
After you are notified that your application is approved, you can initiate a payment so you can move to the final stage. The fastest and easiest way to pay is through our online certification system. Once payment is received, they’ll email you an eligibility number that you’ll use to schedule your exam appointment. You are eligible for one year, and you may take the exam up to three times during that year.
Preparing for the Project Management Professional (PMP) course is a significant step toward advancing obtaining your certification.
Once you are eligible, PMI will e-mail you exam scheduling instructions with your eligibility code, which you will need when scheduling your exam appointment. The exam can be taken online or in person at a nearby center and typically lasts around 4 hours. It includes various question types, such as multiple responses, fill-in-the-blanks, and multiple-choice questions (MCQs), along with matching questions. Throughout the exam, the applicant receives 230 MCQs, with two 10-minute breaks. The exam covers five domains: initiating, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing, comprising 180 questions.
After successfully completing the PMP exam, the candidate receives a Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification from the Project Management Institute and a digital badge.
